I was fortunate enough to be able to go cross country skiing with my son's class last week. What a great experience! I had forgotten how great it was to just get out and do something. It wasn't too cold and I was over dressed so I sweated profusely, but the exercise got my heart going and I felt great for the rest of the day.
Now I know that exercise is good for me, I went to the gym for an hour every day for 3 months and felt great, however I let that slide when I last changed jobs as I didn't have the old job as a motivation to go to the gym any more.
Yesterday I took my son to try out tennis at the Y and decided that rather than come home and go back to pick him up, that I would go on the elliptical machine for 1/2 an hour. I did that again today after dropping my daughter off at a playgroup.
What can I say, I feel great. My mood is positive and I think I slept better last night.
I may not be able to get the Y in every day, but I will do what I can to get in there from now on. It's much easier to go for 30 minutes on the elliptical than it is to go to do the elliptical followed by a half hour workout.
I'm looking forward to the spring when I will have a large amount of yard work to get done and be able to get more of my exercise outside.
I've been slacking on getting the family out to do things so I'm also looking forward to taking the kids out more to enjoy the hiking trails we have around our area and other physical activities we have available like skating, sailing, swimming, playgrounds, sledding, water park, beach, biking and rock climbing.
